The best books tend to focus on a parent’s relationship with their child, and the best parenting advice also tends to be specific to your own life. For instance, I know of a few book recommendations that list some specific parenting practices or tips.
I don’t know about you, but I know I love a good list of books about parenting. After all, books are the one place when I can truly find the truth.
The good news is there are great books that are also great parenting books. The bad news is there are great parenting books that are also great books. My friends at BookBaby often suggest that you only buy the best parenting books, and I agree. But I also agree that you should also get a wide variety of books that cover a range of parenting topics.
This is where retail row comes into play. I’m not sure I can agree more than I’ve read here that you should only buy the best books about parenting. I mean, I’m sure there are some awesome books out there, but I’m also sure others are better than they should be.
I know of two things that are good.
One is the idea of self-education. My mom used to read to us and we took her classes, so I could read too.
I think a lot of what I’m talking about here comes down to the idea of having a library of books that are well written, that go into depth, and that cover a lot of parenting issues. If there is a book that has an “author’s note” that talks about the author’s opinion of how to discipline your kids, that would be a good one to buy.
There is a library of books that are designed to help parents discipline their children. I recently attended a class at my local library, where a librarian told us that there are over 10,000 books on parenting and that she would take us into the “books collection” section to see which are the best. We had to look at books by authors we don’t know to see if they are actually helpful, or if they are just the best books on parenting ever.
