On an Internet-connected device like the iPhone, a large portion of the bandwidth available to your device is dedicated to transmitting data to and from the rest of the world. This is called “data transmission.” The remainder of the available bandwidth is called “capacity.” This is where you experience the difference in bandwidth.
In the days of the web, everything was bandwidth. Everything was a constant stream of data. In fact, the biggest difference between the bandwidth available to you and the bandwidth available to other applications on your phone is that the latter is always capped. The amount of data, voice, etc. you are allowed to send is limited by the amount of capacity that’s available to the rest of the world.
The other difference is that your bandwidth will be much greater than the data-sending capacity. A better way to put it would be: Your data-sending capacity is more than your bandwidth.
A phone, a car, a computer, or anything else that transmits data is called a “data-transmission resource.” Think of data as energy, and the amount of data it transmits on a given resource is proportional to the amount of energy it uses up.
If you look at the graphs for Venny’s website, you will see that he’s making it very clear that he’s in an important state of flux. The data-sending capacity is far more than what he’s using up. He’s also making it very clear that he’s in a very volatile state. It’s the next thing on his timeline.
As it turns out, a good portion of his energy is being used up on transmitting data. But as soon as hes back in his cave he starts making it clear that hes going to be very busy for a while. Hes going to have to make up for lost time by doing very little of anything at all.
It’s actually true. A little while ago, we asked you to guess the amount of bandwidth a file, video, or song would take up. We had you try to guess at various bandwidths and it seemed like you were getting pretty accurate results.
You should know that even though it’s a good idea to be able to use a single application, your speed and bandwidth is going to change. Our goal in Deathloop is to get up to speed. We are not trying to be a “fast” programmer, just getting up to speed fast enough so that when you’re done, you can start your own application and maybe a few other programs at once.
Our goal is to get up to speed fast enough that you can start doing everything in your own applications. So if you think your slow internet connection makes deathloop lag, think again. The goal is to get up to speed fast enough that you can do everything on your own computer, and then after that, we can start doing all sorts of things on Deathloop. We’re not trying to make Deathloop run like we would run it in a real office.
The goal of Deathloop is to make it possible to do everything on your computer, and then after that, we can start doing all sorts of things on Deathloop. Were not trying to make Deathloop run like we would run it in a real office.
